Electric Cars Are Practically Free


In a discussion of electric cars on my America Weekend show today, the Wall Street Journal's Joe White said that this might be the time to buy one because with incentives and rebates, the price of cars like the Nissan Leaf is now practically zero. We talked about the cost-effectiveness of driving a car powered by electricity vs. gasoline and how the charging station infrastructure isn't where it needs to be yet -- thus limiting the number of miles you can drive on one charge. We also talked about Tesla finally turning a profit and repaying its government loan, as well as the still-small number of electric cars on the road.
